Text Box: Seraffix’s mission is to become a market leader in the field of surgical devices by providing surgeons with an innovative tissue closure device that will surpass existing solutions.

Status

Seraffix started phase 1 clinical trials .

 The Trial includes 15 patients.

An extensive animal trial including over 500 lacerations (70 rats and 13 pigs) was conducted to demonstrate safety and efficacy of the Seraffix technology. The wound tensile strength was tested along with the histopathology. Laser-bonded scars exhibited better appearance characteristics, in comparison to sutured scars with no signs of thermal damage. The tensile-strength values for laser soldered incisions were higher then those for sutured incisions. The linearity of the site of operation was excellent in Seraffix treated samples (i.e. no intra-dermal folding formation) in contrast to the sutures treated samples, in which grade 1 folding formation was present. This finding is suggesting that internal physical forces related to the tissue components caused the retraction and the folding formation of the epidermis surface.
